ering and production experience. We were approached by a client to help with the design of a new conceptual machine, engineer it from the ground up and fabricate the first three units. This machine is designed to process semiconductor wafers and chemically each them on one side in order to reduce the thickness of the over all wafer. The machine utilized an off the shelf wafer handling unit which takes wafer from one loading port and transfer it to the back end to be processed. Once the process is done, the wafer handling robot place the processed wafer in a new wafer cartridge. We at Vertex had to design the machine look, engineer all the parts, electrical engineer the entire system, design the UI on the front end, fabricate and install the machine on site.
